2015
This is the WI Centenary Year so look out for a wide range of events & activities
January 2015
The year began with our first meeting on January 7th when our vicar the Reverend Janice Jones gave a very interesting & informative talk and slide presentation on Ynys Enlli (Bardsey Island). This very spiritual and unspoilt island situated off the south coast of the Lleyn Peninsular is a very special place for Janice and over the years she has taken a number of groups of young people to stay there. She has now promised to organise a trip for her parishioners, I for one am looking forward to it!
During this month we also had our annual post-Xmas lunch at Noddfa, where members once again enjoyed the warm hospitality always provided there, not to mention a very nice meal, followed by lots of raffle prizes donated by members of the committee. President Megan Davies thanked Elizabeth Smith for her organisation of the event and Glenys Gower & Sheila Pritchard for organising the raffle. Photographs of the vent can be found in the Gallery 2015

In February at the monthly meeting members heard a fascinating talk from Julian Hughes from Conwy RSPB Reserve. Julian gave a history of the development of the reserve but also informed members of the building of the Conwy tunnel and how fertile soil from this had contributed to the reserve land
Also this month we celebrated the WI Centenary at the AGM in Brynrefail where many members adopted dress from a number of decades from 1910 onwards; following the AGM we were entertained by Annette Bryn Parri who sang songs from the decades and the afternoon concluded with an afternoon tea provided by the Trustees. More pictures can be found in the 2015 Gallery

Also during April 14 members enjoyed a shopping trip to Tweedmill followed by a very interesting guided tour of St Asaph's Cathedral, the smallest cathedral in Wales, where we saw among many interesting items a brass plaque dedicated to the Women of wales who served in various capacities during World War l (see left), more pictures can be found in the 2015 Gallery. Also in the Gallery are photographs from the Boccia 'Taster Day' at Llanberis and the Federation Centenary Lunch at St George's Hotel, Llandudno

May was a vey busy month. At the monthly meeting on May 6th the members heard a very informative talk from Emma Deering (see picture 1 below), Solicitor from Llandudno on Wills & Probate; before going on to discuss the resolution to conference. Lesley Wyke (WI Advisor) presented a comprehensive report on the pros & cons of the resolution and after much discussion it was agreed that Denise Fisher (delegate to conference) would make a decision on the day having heard arguments for/against from the platform at the Royal Albert Hall (AGM).
On May 16th 14 members visited the Wales Federations Banner Display & Exhibition at the Bulkley Hotel, Beaumaris. In all there were 13 banners, as well as exhibition tables showing items from the decades loaned by WI members from across Wales. It was agreed that the Banners were very impressive. These will now be displayed at the Eisteddford, The Royal Welsh Show & the Harrogate Exhibition (September). The Gwynedd/Caernarfon banner can be seen in picture 2 below.
Also this month 4 members enjoyed a brilliant day at Plas Tan y Blwch learning a new craft and bringing home some lovely cushions (see picture 3). More pictures from Beaumaris & Plas Tan y Blwch can be found in the gallery (2015)
