July 2014
July's events began with the Dwygyfylchi WI Annual Competition, competition was fierce and was no easy task for our 4 judges:
Megan Davies (Dwygyfylchi WI President) judged the food exhibits, which included cheese scones, quiches, honey loaf, fruit tarts, jams, chutneys & chocolate truffles, making the audience's mouths water at the delicious smells emanating from that part of the Hall.
Hazel Cave (a local Horticultural expert) also had a hard task judging the vegetables, fruit and flowers including some spectaculat hydrangea heads.
P. Ann Jones (Convener, Conwy Valley Group of WI's) was kept very busy trying to decide on 1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes among the many examples of knitted garments, soft toys, patchwork, embroidery and applique items among the art & craft section.
Last but by no means least, we very much appreciated Meredith Jones stepping in at literally the last hour to judge the Miscellaneous section......no easy task; having to identify winners from among the photographs, collages, limericks, christmas decorations and items of jewellry.
While all the judging was going on Lesley Wyke briefed the members on the recent Federation AGM, held in Leeds (see picture above). More photographs can be found in the Gallery (2014).
